Fostering culture through employee engagement and vision casting

THE CHALLENGE

AGAR was approached by 84.51 to create an immersive brand experience for their annual employee summit, bringing together its largest workforce yet of 1300 employees at the Duke Energy Convention Center. With today’s personal and professional lives driven by routines the goal for the day was to develop a sequence of programming that would challenge the status quo, encourage employees to embrace the uncomfortable, and inspire, motivate, and educate employees on the brand’s annual theme, “Fearless”. 

The solution needed to be all-encompassing, providing a holistic approach to communication, programming, assets, and collateral. In addition, the team needed to coordinate a variety of team-building activities to surprise and delight attendees and capture the experience for post-event communications. 

AGAR curated an overarching brand ethos, “The Next Realm”, inspired by the company’s future-forward vision, trajectory for growth, and key facets of the company’s brand values.
Embracing the ethos, the event was structured around facets of fearlessness, a core brand pillar, including Heart, Mind, and Spirit. The theme was thoughtfully celebrated in every aspect of the day including keynote speaker content, digital assets, wayfinding, apparel, stage design, lighting, branding, and music selection. AGAR curated a dynamic programming sequence with inspirational keynotes from world-class leaders, including former astronaut Ellen Ochoa and professional rock climber Tommy Caldwell, and all-encompassing team-building activities, that challenged both mental and physical acuity.  AGAR’s comprehensive approach spanned from brand development to environmental design and experiential production, including the design of immersive portals at entry and theatrical and projection lighting centered around the inclusive 360° stage. Activities were centered around core brand pillars and included Zorb ball racing, word scrambles, a DJ-supported happy hour, and more. The event concluded symbolically, “shredding fears” and conquering fear via confetti cannons.

RESULTS

In the end, more than 1,300 employees from around the country were engaged with dynamic speakers, unique breakout activities, and various entertainment. AGAR’s meticulous planning, including A/V cues and a scripted MC, ensured a cohesive and empowering event. Overall, we fostered positive employee connections and greater affinity with the brand and each other and left employees empowered and motivated by the premise that driven by innovation and fearlessness, those who break boundaries and take risks will receive the greatest reward.
