THE CHALLENGE
The City of Fayetteville sought to bring a bold, internationally recognized art experience to its downtown core—one that would engage the community, draw visitors, and reflect the city’s commitment to innovation and culture. The challenge was to identify the right artist, create a cohesive vision across multiple sites, and deliver large-scale works that would inspire both locals and travelers alike.
AGAR curated world-renowned Dutch artist Leon Keer to create two monumental murals in downtown Fayetteville, leaning into his signature 3D illusion style and pioneering use of augmented reality.
One mural, a striking vertical stack of toy cars on the Fayetteville Public Library, invites viewers to unlock an immersive AR experience—bringing the painted cars to life as they tumble in motion through a mobile device. The second, on the Fayetteville Town Center, extends Keer’s mastery of perspective, creating a dynamic illusion that transforms the cityscape. AGAR managed the curation, artist partnership, thematic development, and production process, ensuring that the project integrated seamlessly into Fayetteville’s urban fabric while delivering a truly international caliber of public art.
RESULTS

The murals introduced an unprecedented interactive art experience to Fayetteville, elevating the city’s public art program and positioning it as a destination for cultural exploration. The project attracted community engagement through live painting viewings and an artist talk, while the AR component sparked digital interaction and storytelling well beyond the city. With AGAR’s guidance, Fayetteville now boasts two signature works that celebrate innovation, connection, and global artistry.
