Brand & Environmental Design Director

AGAR’s Brand & Environmental Design Director will drive the vision for our experiential event, retail, placemaking and activation concepts in partnership with leadership on how humans connect in today’s ever-changing world. This candidate must both guide our creative vision and “jump in” directly designing and developing branded concepts.This passionate team leader has 8-10 years of experience leading the ideation, design, development, and presentation of experiential activations and programming as well as online and offline marketing campaigns, with a strong background in brand design, graphic design, identity systems, print design, and environmental branding and application. The candidate must also be familiar with architectural, interior, digital and industrial design due to the nature of our industry.The Brand & Environmental Design Director will work closely with the AGAR leadership team to quickly bring experiential event and activation concepts to life through visual storytelling, branded design elements, and graphic and environmental design that conveys the essence of the experience. The Brand & Environmental Design Director will take initiative to create effective design strategies and develop solutions based on customer goals and consumer insights. Integrating current and evolving digital technology into creative planning is an expectation for success in this role.

The Brand & Environmental Design Director is accountable for oversight of creative development, process, and execution within the company. Ability to build strong relationships with clients and foster new client growth opportunities is essential. Developing the creative team through integration of new technology and current trends to ensure cutting-edge creative product will be the hallmark of the position..


  • Managing team of creative professionals including graphic and environmental designers, and interaction with respective vendors.
  • Generate client-ready presentations, elevations/renderings of experiential activations and concepts including branding and graphic system elements (from high level concepts through design development and final artwork details). Participate in presentations.
  • Assisting in creative strategy development to ensure brand essence and core message communication.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients by overseeing and coordinating communication as well as managing client expectations regarding scope and client contribution.
  • Partnering with product and technology teams/vendors to determine requirements to further enhance the strategy and experience.
  • Integrating well-selected and configured technology into experiential events and campaigns.
  • Developing organizational strategies with adjacent teams to maintain timelines for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leading creative team brainstorm sessions. Stay effectively current with culture trends and changing business processes.
  • Maintaining project budgets to ensure company profitability and time management of team in partnership with account team. Identifying efficiencies to maximize profitability.
  • Prioritizing creative workflow to maximize efficiency and meet required deadlines.
  • Coaching and mentoring creative team members and providing ongoing feedback to strengthen techniques, strategies, and client growth.
  • Creating training and development plans that help team members grow and evolve with the business.
  • Initiating, managing and executing multiple projects.

Additional Responsibilities/

  • Support the AGAR vision, mission and business plans, goals, principles and values.
  • Contributing to the solidification and strategic growth of day-to-day client/AGAR relationships. Remaining up-to-date with clients’ future needs and opportunities.
  • Lead team meetings and interact with all levels of leadership/staff and recommend solutions across functional areas.


  • BS/BA in graphic design, fine arts, or related field plus 8-10 years relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing creative teams.
  • Strong expertise in spatial/branded environments, graphic design and 2D design.
  • Experience developing creative for CPG, Retail, and B2B brands and demonstrate an understanding of the experiential industry
  • Highly creative with the willingness and desire to be hands-on with the projects.
  • Experience working with C-Suite and senior level executives
  • Strong storytelling skills, ability to pitch creative concepts to executive audiences.
  • Commitment to creating work that resonates with a diverse customer base.
  • Proficient in design programs (Adobe Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc), presentation programs (Keynote & PowerPoint). General understanding of Excel, Word, Google G Suite. Proficiency in Apple products is a requirement. Knowledge of web-based applications such as Squarespace and WordPress a plus.
